#MmmDonut

After a week of being laid out sick and limping through deadlines, I'm back to life and chugging through my workflow.

The key to a productive day is a hearty breakfast. I hunkered down for a morning in Contraband Coffee in Nob Hill and decided to do a little #Inktober piece. I know that Inktober is supposed to be about horror, but the truth is I'm not that scared of zombies or vampires or any of that shit. You know what scares me? I would genuinely like to eat 3 donuts every day of my life. It is an effort not to, in fact, and my resolve in that effort is getting weaker. There was a time when I would go to the gym 5 times a week and drink a Kale smoothie for breakfast every day. But not today. Today, I am one donut fatter. I'm not going to work off those calories either. That donut and all of his fat little friends want to murder me, slowly. And I'm going to let them, and I'm going to like it. That is scary to me.

Contraband is an interesting place. Their branding is all around social justice and revolutionary blah blah blah. It's an ambitious motif for a coffee shop, especially considering that cup of coffee which was delicious) and that vegan Strawberry-Earl Grey donut (which was fucking delicious) set me back 9 bucks. Plus the girl who solid it to me looked like a caricature of a hipster and when I initially ordered an espresso, she told me it would take about 15 minutes to "stage" it.
