The Streak Is Broken
Six days is pretty good.
And those illustrations are pretty fucking good, if I do say so myself. But that seventh day was a ball buster. I was eyeballs deep in work and Maria and I had been fighting a little bit, to tell you the truth. That's real life shit. It hit's you hard. You want to draw, you try to draw, but it just doesn't feel right. You start second guessing every line you draw and your confidence goes out the fucking window. All of a sudden, you find yourself staring at a page that's blank except for eraser marks, pissed off and tired.
I thought about a few little illustrations that I could shit out, which would meet the criteria and keep us moving. I could draw a stick figure walking in three panels; it would take me 30 seconds. Or a lightbulb becoming lit, then burning out again.
Any maybe those will do the trick in a future challenge. But not this one. The first week of the #IllustrationADay challenge brought some great pieces. I loved making each of them and I'm really proud of all of them. So rather than cheating death, I'll lay down my sword.
For in breaking the status quo, we create an opportunity for storytelling.
The #IllustrationADay challenge will return soon with a whole new day one!
