What do you do with a stagnant property that has a disinterested core audience and 10's of billions of dollars worth of competion?

Make Interstellar with superheroes, I guess. This property is pretty lifeless and I'm not sure that a heady sci-fi piece is going to re-invigorate it. But if it's successful, it could potentially set a great tone for a Silver Surfer standalone. Then again, we'd probably get an even better Silver Surfer movie if this thing bombs and Marvel gets the property back. 

Too soon to tell. Cool trailer though.
